I cannot believe we are already a quarter of the way to our sweet girl being one. And yes, I am counting this down in quarters. It’s all going by too incredibly quickly and with each newborn session I capture, I realize just how big she is getting by the day.
When taking monthly photos this time around, I opted for simple portraits. Reflecting back, I shared all the kid’s monthly ‘achievements’ and details. From their first babble, smile, giggle, when they started sitting up, crawling, walking, talking, and all of the things they loved: ceiling fans, lights, Mommy cuddles, the list goes on. But in honesty, this time around, I’m so less focused on those milestones. While those moments are incredibly exciting and I, too, am looking forward to them, I’m also okay with holding onto this smallness for as long as possible.
That’s why when deciding what I wanted to do for Sadie’s monthly photos, it simply became just that. I wanted to focus on capturing every small detail about her that I want to remember forever. I want to remember her dark blonde/brunette hair (we still haven’t figured out which it will be). I want to remember her breathtakingly, long eyelashes. I want to remember her cute, little nose and her tiny mouth. I want to remember her small ears, her cute toes, and most of all, I want to remember her tiny fingers wrapped around mine.

When I look back at our other kids, I remember the moments. I remember the excitement that filled us when they took their first steps and said their first words. But I don’t feel upset by not remembering the exact date and age they did those things. Rather in hindsight, I wish I captured more of them. More of their smallness while it was still there. So this final time around, I’m bottling it all up as best I can!
