Entering Quarter Three: A Reflection on Quarter Two’s Goals

I am actually in disbelief that we are already in quarter three for the year. How the hell did that happen and where did the time go?

This year is reallyyyyyy showing me a lot. I’ve eaten several slices of humble pie thinking I can manage and do all the things. So quarter two was a true reality check for me.

Previously, I had these goals in mind:

  • Finding more quality time for myself
  • Working out
  • Getting to bed earlier
  • Establishing a better work routine
  • Finishing the book I started

I can confidently say I went 2 for 5! 😂

I definitely developed a better working routine. With the kids having been in school and the baby independently napping finally, it definitely made the days more manageable. I was able to stay on top of tasks during the few hours everyone was out of the house and/or napping.

I also finished the book I started! So I have now finished reading two books this year and that is more than I have in the last several years combined. So I will take the win!

Entering quarter three looks insanely different though. That schedule and work routine is out the window. The baby’s naps are transitioning from two a day to once a day– and it’s incredibly inconsistent by the day. The kids are all home and the amount of times I have to respond to someone calling my name is outlandish.

I’m definitely NOT getting to bed earlier. In fact, I haven’t been going to bed until 1am most nights (yikes! Thanks, Love Island 🙄🤣). I did a poor job of carving out quality time for myself and definitely didn’t start working out as hard as I would have liked.

However, I did sign up for a monthly spa service, which I actually look forward to using. And that is definitely some promised self care each month that I know I deserve. And, I have implemented a walk outside every morning with the kids. So I am getting my body moving on a daily basis again.

And I’m reminding myself each day to:

Stop looking at the entire staircase, just take it one stair at a time.

And when I think of it like that, maybe I actually went 4 for 5 last quarter.

So for quarter three, I am refining those goals to align with my life a little bit better:

  • Clock in, an uninterrupted, 6 hours of backend business work each week. This is much more manageable for us. Phil can easily cover 6 hours during the week in which I can walk away from the household and work uninterrupted. Thinking I will wake up earlier than I already do or deep diving for the energy at the end of the night, just isn’t cutting it anymore.
  • Work out for 20 minutes, 2 days each week. This is totally doable while the kids are having outdoor time in our daily routine. We have our workout equipment outdoors, so why am I not time batching watching the kids and working out?
  • Start dating the goals I have in mind. I have been working on so many projects behind the scenes and ultimately haven’t gotten to sharing them because I simply haven’t set a date on these goals. And a “goal” without a date, is just a dream. The date puts it into action and I need to begin doing so.
  • Spend less money. We have a lot of personal goals we want to attain and in order to do so, I really need to curb my spending. UGH!

After reflecting on the goals I set for quarter two, I was able to detail down, in reality, what is really going to work in my day to day. I’ve come to the conclusion, no matter how hard you Instagram ladies try to convince me, I’m just not in my reading books era 🤣. My time is more valuable in other areas and that’s okay! I’ve found some joy in staying up late with Phil and watching shows together (yes, he watched Love Island with me!), so going to bed earlier will return with the school year. And that’s okay, too!

Refining your goals and reflecting on what works and what doesn’t is so important to holding yourself accountable and reaching a level of confidence and success!
