Life Update: Where’ve We Been?!

I swear, the moment you feel like you are finding a groove and keeping up (partially!) is the moment the universe decides to rock you!

The last week or so has been a never ending game of pass the illness around in our household. We lived in a state of anticipation- waiting for the next person to get hit. It was genuinely the most annoying thing around.

Jaxon was sent home from school twice for a cough. That cough never progressed into anything else. Just an annoying cough that lingered for about 5 days. Taylor on the other hand, missed a few days of school for a high fever, cough, all the things. Taylor passed it to Sadie, who passed it to me. Colton remained unhinged and untouched- per usual!

So yup- just as I was catching up. Just as I was finding a new rhythm to balance everything. Just as I found a routine throughout the day with the kids in school. The universe said they’re back home, relax.

Allowing Myself Time to Recharge

If I’m being honest, I’m still partially recouping my energy from the hit. Taking care of four kids while feeling under the weather yourself is not for the faint of heart. And although I was clocking in extra sleep and Phil was picking up the slack, it still didn’t feel like enough. I mean, does it ever?

I used to feel so anxious about allowing work to take a back-burner. I used to worry about falling behind and not keeping up with household tasks. But as someone who rarely gets sick, this winter got me! And I really had to learn the importance of allowing myself the time to rest and recharge before getting back into the swing of things.

If you aren’t feeling 100%, you cannot expect to give 100%. It’s simply not there to give. So giving yourself the grace and permission to rest and refuel, guilt free, is so important. All of that mundane shit- the laundry, the cleaning, the emails, the dinners, will all still be there for you when you’ve rested back up. So what’s the worry?

Looking Ahead

This week is spring break so the kids are home for a collective 11 days over here. Praise be.

We have a vacation coming up in April that the kids are really looking forward to- as am I. Hello warmer weather!

If you get my newsletter, you know I’m back in school- sort of. I passed my first set of marketing courses and am now onto my next set.

I have a new project coming your way soon- I’ve been working on this one since the start of the year.

My photography season is about to start picking up again, as slow season begins to die off.

A work trip to Cancun in May.

Baby stuff is starting to move it’s way out of the house, along with beginning to plan for Sadie’s first birthday- CUE ALL THE TEARS.

AHHH- so much is happening in the next few months that I cannot wait for! And I cannot wait to bring you all with!
