For the past few years now, we have hosted the Fourth of July for our families and some close friends. Phil and I are both big on getting people together, we love being around our people. Last year, on the ride to the hospital, in very active labor mind you, we laughed knowing that was officially going to be our thing- hosting the Fourth of July. And since it just makes sense, Sadie basically got two birthday parties this year (and likely will for years to come!).

Sadie had the best time being around family and friends. She got her first American Girl Baby and is actually obsessed with it- she constantly gives it some very aggressive hugs. She FINALLY ate cake- after refusing at her cake smash photoshoot and her birthday party. And she crashed from party rocking just before fireworks began.
Honestly, thank you to our family and friends that are willing to show up twice, sing twice, eat cake twice, and celebrate our babies in such abundance. That’s the part that doesn’t go unnoticed and is appreciated beyond words.

Aside from all that partying, I mourned the fact that we will never have a “baby” in the house again. And will likely be mourning for the next 7 years. Phil and Jaxon (our oldest) went Pokemon card hunting, while I took the other three to breakfast solo. We napped and spent the greater portion of the day vegging out on the couch. We burnt some energy at the park before bedtime and watched a few episodes of Love Island. And on Sunday I got to celebrate and shower one of my closest friends and we spent late night hours hanging out with our cousins.
This weekend reminded me so much of my own childhood- running around with my cousins all night long, being around family, laughing, celebrating…it was the absolute best. This weekend was also the ending to a few very busy, back to back, weeks that kick started our summer break. I’m highly looking forward to the winding down from it all. Our July is sprinkled with a few celebrations of our closest friends, but otherwise a lot of time at home together.
