For years, I lived in a constant state of checking in. I checked in with my bank account before I let myself think bigger. I checked in with my husband’s schedule before I made plans. I checked in with what other people were doing online before I posted anything. I was constantly looking outside of myself before making a move, because I didn’t trust myself to be the one making the decision.
I get it: you’re working hard, but still treating your vision like a side project. You keep showing up, but you’re holding yourself back at the same time, waiting until you feel more ready, more certain, more “qualified.” I call that the Mompreneur Loop, where you’re doing a lot, but never fully stepping into it. Then came the moment that changed everything. It wasn’t big or dramatic.
I was sitting at my desk, looking at something I had been working on and avoiding finishing, not because I didn’t know how, but because I was scared to actually put it out there. I was worried what other people would think of it. Was it even good enough? And that’s when I realized…I was more tired of playing it safe than I was scared of being seen.
So I made one decision: I was done asking for permission, finished looking for validation. I decided I was no longer going to be the woman who just had the idea, I was going to be the one who actually built it. I stopped overthinking every move, stopped waiting for it to feel perfect, and started making decisions and standing behind them. That decision felt big, because once you stop playing small, you can’t really go back to that version of yourself: the one who waited, second-guessed everything, and stayed safe just to keep things comfortable. I realized that if I wanted more control over my time and my life, I had to be the one to create it.
Once I stopped waiting to feel ready and started trusting my own decisions, everything shifted. The noise quieted, I wasn’t constantly questioning every move anymore, and my business finally started to reflect what I actually wanted instead of what I was afraid of.
If you’ve been waiting for a sign to finally bet on yourself, this is it. You don’t need to have everything perfectly figured out. You just need to decide that the version of you you’re becoming is worth taking seriously, because once you do, everything starts to feel a whole lot clearer.
