The World May Not See It, But I Do.

Mama, you’re in the trenches. You’re deep into motherhood. Everyone needs something from you every minute of every day. You feel like you are doing it all for everyone and nothing is pouring back into you.

The cooking.

The cleaning.

The laundry.

The schedule setting.

The routine enforcing.

The pick ups and drop offs.

The school emails.

The doctors appointments.

The remembering. Everything.

As I was packing for myself and the kids this week, for our last getaway of the summer, I was overwhelmed. Overwhelmed by how much I had to think of. How much I had to remember. For each kid. For myself. How each kid prefers to sleep and what they need to do so while away. What each kid needed to be safe in the pool and at the beach. Which cup the baby will drink out of. If I had enough clothes for everyone- what about accidents? multiple changes throughout the day?

And I wanted other Mama’s to know, I see you. All of the small details that we remember to keep the household running, are often times, overlooked. They go unnoticed by our partners. By friends. By family. And suddenly, we feel like we’re drowning alone. We’re the only ones with the small details on our mind constantly. We feel as if nobody else understands the weight that is placed on our shoulders.

But I want you to know, I see you. Because I am you. I see everything that you are doing to keep everything and everybody afloat. I understand the load on your plate. And I want you to know, if nobody else has said it to you recently, this shit is not easy and you’re doing a damn good job!
